Guest Book

A detailed independent review of Petit Careme Villa, plus additional guest reports, is available on www.myTobago.info.

"If I had to pick one word to describe the villa, I would say "perfection". Tobago is already a beautiful island but the villa was the icing on the cake. My family and myself totally enjoyed our vacation at the Petit Careme, our only regret was that we did not make arrangements to stay even longer. I personally enjoyed the birds and the cleanliness of both the villa and the pools. Me and my family will surely return again and again!!!! I would certainly recommend this villa!!!"

"This was my family's third stay at Petit Careme and once again it was really relaxing and serene. The Villa and apartment offer great accommodation. The grounds are also a green paradise. There were a few issues but once we spoke to Charmaine and Wayne, they were resolved asap. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay at Petit Careme."

Brent Budhooram - Trinidad - April 2011

"Our stay at Petit Careme was wonderful and relaxing. At the villa, we spent hours on the lovely veranda enjoying the comfortable Adirondack chairs and hammock, and we loved the little splash pool, too. The hosts were friendly and helpful, and the compound had very good security. Perhaps best of all, the sweet housekeeper made our stay especially memorable by preparing us a wonderful home-cooked Tobagonian meal! Really the only drawback to the villa is no view of the ocean. But otherwise just a great place to stay with great owners."

Brian Aufderheide - Trinidad - March 2011

"Our 6th stay in Tobago over the last 10 years, all of them spent in different villas. We selected this one largely on the back of good reports from this great website, but also because we received good communication from the owners early in our enquiries which I always think is important. This villa and location was the best we have stayed in to-date (and certainly not the most expensive we have stayed in), scoring highly on quality of accomodation, space, location, and service. We stayed a week in February. The grounds are lovely, the (shared) pool is large and warm because it is in the sun most of the day, and everthing inside and outside is well maintained. The bird life that can be attracted onto the veranda is like being at Grafton bird sanctuary. Charmaine was delightful, fun and helpful as all the other reports will testify. It's hard to fault the place...it was that good. But trying hard to do so, loosing three or four hours of peace and tranquility to the sound of the caretaker / gardener / night watchman revving his clapped out car to death as he worked on it during the middle of two days is perhaps a small price to pay, and certainly the only small neggy comment I have, but it might be worth a mention if this is a regular occurance I guess. Overall a great place to stay, quiet and peaceful in the main, very well maintained and a comfortable and safe place to base yourself in Tobago. Highly recommended. "

"The Principal and Staff of Scarborough Secondary School wish to thank you sincerely for accommodating us at your villa, Petit Careme. The ambience was truly fantastic. The trees, the pool, the sunshine and rain made the day one that the staff will be talking about for a long time to come. Even though we did not go into the pool, just looking at it gave us this free, peaceful and happy holiday feeling that people have when everything is just perfect. There were thirty-eight (38) of us and we utilized the spacious verandah and the living/dining room area for relaxation. The space was just right for us. I must say that Charmaine, your housekeeper, was absolutely charming and pleasant, and made our day at Petit Careme very comfortable. Thank you, again. Several of the teachers have asked for your information so that they can return to the villa with their family or church group. This speaks of the wonderful impression that they experienced at Petit Careme Villa."

Scarborough Secondary School - Tobago - December 2010

"This villa was extremely nice, the grounds were extensive and well kept, and the birds greeting you on the porch was priceless. I recommend this villa for large groups and the price was very reasonable."

"I observed most of the reports uploaded are a bit short of information and confirmation and I am here to tell it like it is... My girlfriend and I were seeking a Tobago vacation for the weekend...and like you, I turned to the most comprehensive online database for help i.e. mytobago.info. I came across the Petit Careme Apartment after an advance search for a 1 bedroom accommodation. 4.5 of 5, pretty high and some lovely photos. But we know photos can tell a thousand lies. But in this case, they didn't!!! The Petit Careme Apartment is nothing less than 5 of 5, plus 1 for Charmaine; she is the "heart of the home". This is no Studio Apartment, it's a Home... excellent layout, electronically secured and located in a gated area. I just loved the hidden Laundry Area enclosed by bifolding closet doors. Ingenious! Washing machine, dryer, wash sink, hot and cold. Full kitchen...Electrical stove with a range, a smoke detector, dish washer, large fridge, microwave, etc plus cupboards with clean utensils and a modest dining table. Living room...32 inches of LCD TV, cable, dvd and cd stereo, small dvd library, and lots of magazines... Bedroom...clean, spacious, air conditioned with a queen size bed, a full bed and a crib with a connecting walk in closet. Bathroom...clean, connects to the bedroom and the living room, is spacious, vanity, ventilated by an extractor. Hmmm that was the inside. Just outside, lounge chair, outdoor chairs, table set, gas bar b q grill, a large well kept private garden, a large communal pool (very clean) with bar area and the Golf Course a few metres away. Free wireless internet, a gate controller (for the electronic gate), and a secure park in direct view from the front door and bedroom window. The Cons: The Bed was so damn comfortable, we woke up late every morning, too lazy to get up to see the Coricos. Because of that bed we weren't able to have any picnics in the private garden area nor take walks across the Golf Course to the beach. Long and short...we just didn't stay long enough. This place is wonderful, full of relaxing things to do...Money well spent. Already planning our next (longer) stay. Hats off to the Barrows and Charmaine. I got a peep of the Villa; it's even better...wow. "

Timothy - Trinidad - February 2010

"Staying at Petit Careme was a wonderful experience, I just wish we were there longer! Can't wait to go back next year, would highly recommend staying here. Merilee & her staff couldn't have been more helpful. Thanks again!"

Amy & Orlando Machado - U.S.A. - February 2010

"We have just returned from spending three wonderful weeks at the villa apartment. The apartment was excellent with all mod cons. The situation was fabulous, calm, quiet, view of the golf course. You do need to consider car hire. We got a really good deal from Colin Shephard at "Sheppy's". Really good swimming pool that was only used by us! Charmaine the housekeeper was excellent. She was extremely helpful and courteous. This has been our 5th visit to beautiful Tobago and the most relaxing yet. We will definately consider returning to the apartment if not the beautiful villa above should we return with friends. Thank you Merrilee and Rowle (owners)for your assistance. "

Ann Hoyle - U.K. - February 2010

"Serene and green, there are many words which can be used to describe Petit Careme Villa which is my home away from home. My family truly enjoyed the picture perfect ambiance and Charmaine's service was nothing short of excellent. Three bedrooms and three bathrooms, a kitchen that has all the amenities of a modern home, a veranda with a view to make your jaw drop and birds which appear to be trained makes this a photographer's nature haven. This was our second stay at the Villa and is definitely not going to be our last. We anxiously await our next vacation here. Cheers."

Rosalie & Steve - U.S.A. - February 2010

"Our stay at the villa was wonderful my husband and i were looking for a place to celebrate our son's birthday and to just relax and this was the perfect place we loved it we will surly be visiting again for a longer time."

Esha & Anton Berment - Trinidad - January 2010

"We stayed at Petit Careme Villa for 3 nights and had an absolutely wonderful time. The setting of the Villas are just perfect with well kept grounds and good security of a gated community. We were met by Charmaine the housekeeper who gave us a omprehensive guide to the villa including instructions for use of the plunge pool. The villa was beautifully furnished with lovely accents and pictures and very comfortable beds and pillows. We preferred the setting, near to the little river with the bamboo on the banks which made for such a peaceful, relaxing setting. The early morning bird watching, with the binoculars that were provided, is something you should not miss. The presence of the gardener made us feel very safe on the Greens. We were grateful for being facilitated with a late departure of 1.30pm. Petit Careme feels like a wonderful "Home" away from Home with all the conveniences and comforts. We shall certainly tell all our friends and we shall return in 2010 !!! "

Joanna Landreth-Smith - Trinidad - October 2009

"OMG...............Petit Careme Villa To beatuful for words!!!! Its a place where you go and don't want to leave, we seriously didn't want to leave the villa to go anywhere. we felt very safe. The money we(my two girlfriends and i)spent for that three night stay was so, so, SOOOOOO WORTH IT!!! looking for that perfect vaction spot in Tobago? Where you can have everything you need for a wonderful vaction, under one roof? STOP!!! LOOK, NO FURTHER...Petit Careme Villa is it! "

Karen Mohan - Trinidad - August 2009

"Staying at Petite Careme was a dream. It was like your private little getaway. You were safe and secure, cozy and comfortable, relaxed and layed back. The smell of the cool, clear air and the and the sounds of the national bird was all too inviting. If you are looking for a place to just relax and let your hair down then this is the place. If you want to lie in a jacuzzi the entire day and sip on a cool drink, then this is the place. If you want a place that is close to the capital city and some of the most amazing restaurants, then this is the place. The beach is like a 3 minute drive and you have the golf course at your back gate. What can i say other than you need to come and experience all that Petite careme has to offer you. I promise you, you won't regret it! "

Dennisha - Trinidad - May 2009

"Petit Careme Villa was a beautiful, luxurious and secure property to stay at. We enjoyed the complex's pool as well as the Villa's own splash pool. Snorkelling at the nearby beaches was a treat of a lifetime. The weather at this time of year was outstanding and the covered balconies allowed us to relax outside in the fresh air without the heat of the sun. We very much enjoyed all the birds that would come up, feed at the feeders and sit in the nearby trees. The owners of the Villa have thought carefully of every little necessity to make their visitors' stay enjoyable. Thank you Petit Careme Villa for making our visit so fantastic."

Janice - Canada- May 2009

"We had a most magnificent vacation. Tobago is wonderful, nice beaches & friendly. The house is clean & spacious, extremely quiet and so pleasant. I have all intentions to return."

We will do it againg in a heart beat, it was worth every cent we spend. Thank you very much."

Marva - U.S.A. - May 2009

"My stay at the Petit Careme villa was very well spent. Upon entering the villa you will realise right away that the villa is very well kept. Each room is equipped with its own bathroom and toilet which made it very easy for the 5+ people that spent the weekend there with me. The atmosphere is calm and serene and away from all the hustle and bustle. Keep up the good work."

Michelle Subero - Trinidad - April 2009

Meg Whitehead - Canada - April 2009

"Very lovely location nestled in the corner among the trees. The birds were incredible. Good central location to access the island. Facility was clean & maintained. The staff was friendly. Checkin & out went smoothly. The instructions & signs made it possible to locate the Villa easily. We hope we have the opportunity to visit again."

Katie Radcliffe - U.S.A. - March 2009

Lisa Small - U.S.A. - March 2009

"There is simply no other place I'd rather be when visiting Tobago. Our stay was very short, but would have been planned for at least a week if I had known what a wonderful stay this would have been. The highlight for all was surely the private heated splash pool, as enjoyable in the day as it was in the night under the stars. The owners thought of everything anyone could possibly need including Charmaine who put together a great meal for us!!! The place is far nicer in reality than it appears in the pictures. Such a wonderful place for the family or couple hoping to enjoy a few days of luxury away from the hassles of everyday life. I guarantee you if you visit once, you'll be making plans for your return."

S De Mattos - Trinidad - March 2009

"Evrything during my stay has been lovely. We really have a very pleasant stay, and due mainly to the high standard of the accomodation. In order to slightly improve I would just add the option to incorporate some kind of pre-pruchase of some basic things to the home, I mean that the guest will have the option to order you in advance some basic stuff like oil, salt, milk, bread, some drinks, ice, so when they arrive they don't have to go first to the supermarket. Since the stays can be short it is interesting to optimize the time there, so having that basic stuff the guest can deferr the supermarket visit till later on during the day, coordinating it with the beach return or similar. It would be just as easy as to make a small supermarket purchase at guest's request and then to provide the bill at arrival, which could be paid at the same moment at the deposit. "

Rafael Guerrero - Trinidad - March 2009

"We come to Petite Careme on an annual basis & it is always the perfect backdrop to a perfect holiday. Charmaine looks after us in the most courteous &competent way & we would'nt stay anywhere else. Thank you to all that make it that way."

Philippe & Susan Lafarge - Ireland - January 2009

"Our sixth holiday in Tobago and the fourth consecutive time at Petit Careme. A perfect villa in a perfect setting; beautiful and airy, tranquil, safe, stunning bird life and close to the wonderful beaches of Mt Irvine and bounding the golf course. Charmaine continues to be the greatest of housekeepers and keeps the place immaculate. Merilee and Rawle, thanks for making the stay so good. "

Robert & Rowena Harrison - U.K. - January 2009

"The 15 days stay at the apartment at Petit Careme were very enjoyable. The apartment was kept spotless by Charmaine who also was very helpful and charming. The location and setting are near perfect, the surroundings verdant, the birds abundant. The main swimming pool unfortunately needs a little maintenance due to the problems caused by the tree roots. We were very fortunate not only meeting Charmaine but also the owners which added to the enjoyment of our first and hopefully, not last, stay at Petit Careme."

Keith & Karin Harris - Germany - January 2009

"Petit Careme Villa is delightfully secluded and quiet, and yet not isolated and there is a great sense of security. It is a marvellous place to stay if you are interested in birdwatching - early morning in particular sees a vast array of unusual birds who come to feed happily on the feeders, some of which come back in the evenings. The villa is spacious, spotlessly clean and well equipped in all areas. Air conditioning works efficiently and unintrusively if you care to use it, though the villa is pleasantly cool anyway. We had a couple of lovely evenings on the verandah dining with food cooked on the barbecue. There are several restaurants nearby, and also beaches, villages, shops, Buccoo Reef, and Buccoo itself, where you can buy the catch of the day from 4pm onwards. In the villa there is a helpful guide brochure compiled by the owners to unusual places that you might not necessarily find, such as the Arnos Vale hotel with its magical gardens and birds, and the Looking Out riding stables. It was also very helpful for finding the best food shops in the vicinity. All in all it is a lovely place to stay - with the swimming pool in the grounds and the comfort of the villa it is sometimes hard to wrench yourself away, but go exploring you must, because Tobago is a beautiful island. "

"The villa is breath taking and have everything you might want. What I will remember the most is the mornings, it is the most peaceful place on earth with only the birds to keep you company. Don’t think their could be anything else to be said about Charmaine except what ever Merilee is paying her it could not be enough (She is the heart of the villa.) If you don’t let her cook for you, you have missed heaven. "
